First, read this post about the crisis situation in Alaska: Native Alaskans freezing and starving, yet no one seems to be listening.

I'm really short on money right now, the holiday season combined with the closings of several work centers put a lot of us out of work for the entire period. I have little I can spare right now, so here's my plan instead:

I have five remaining coyote-tooth pendants. They look similar to the dog-tooth pendants I've been making. Black hemp cord, coyote canine, and a small wooden bead pinching the coyote tooth in place. I will give one of these pendants to anyone who clicks the link above and donates $10 (or more, if you desire) via the PayPal link in the article. Just send me an email (cynanthropos@gmail.com) with some kind of donation proof, and an address you want the pendant sent to. Shipping's on me.

Thanks in advance.

I'm a bit miffed about the article saying he's traveling on his own dime, and then stating that any surplus donated will actually go to the villages (once his travel expenses are paid off.) Or did I read that wrong?

I'm just stunned by this story though. In this day and age, where is their government, where is their homeland support? I know they weren't speaking out much until now, but from the article it seems that the powers that be were aware of this coming.

After donations, the bopping of heads together of government officials please?

Having looked around online and various blogs, it seems in a few days, blogging has done what the news hasn't been able to. I'm really moved, hearing that donations are pouring in from around the world, and that the story is circulating because of people like you who bring the story to the attention of everyone that reads your blog. (I wouldn't have heard about it today had I not read it in your blog.)

Having read a bit more of Dennis Zaki's intentions and that, I feel a bit better about supporting that cause. (Not that I felt bad before, I was just miffed (and still am) at the wording in the first article. -.-) I hope this raises enough awareness that it doesn't get this bad again for those in Emmonak and elsewhere.

Thank you a lot for bringing this to attention.
It's chilling that no one at the government/state/whatev. level "noticed", but warms my heart that so many people around the world saw and helped.
I've contributed a little, and would've regardless of the offered bribe ;)
