Corvid Wallhanging Commissions

Okay, here's the deal. They'll end up looking something like this, depending on the species. Two wings, with skull and deerskin loop for hanging. Made for totemic or animistic work.

Categories will show what I have available right now, and slots. $30 for each, price includes shipping within the U.S. For international folk, feel free to poke me about it. Estimated time frame for completion of commissions to be around mid to end of July. Payment will be due when the project is completed, but those interested are welcome to reserve their space now.

Note that I will not work with protected species (such as birds listed under the MBTA, the UK's Wildlife and Countryside Act, or CITES). What is reflected above is what I currently have available or is easily obtainable to me. None of what I obtain has ever been killed specifically for my art. I scavenge everything I have, and if they didn't come into my hands they'd be sitting in a landfill, rotting, or picked apart for fly tying. I donate a portion of proceeds from the sale of whatever I make to wildlife groups, namely Defenders of Wildlife, but I've been considering donating to the Audubon Society as of late as well.

Anyway, comment away if interested, and thank you. I should also note that this is also a part of an avian pathworking I've been doing...I find it interesting that the animal remains I seem to work closely with are canid and corvid (both are seen frequently together in the wild cooperating for food), or dog and bird (Yinepu and Djehuty, anyone?). The irony is not lost on me, and this was never originally an intentional pairing. Ha!

Sure thing, and thank you.

Bluejay, if possible.

[identity profile] primaldog.livejournal.com 2009-06-27 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely possible, if it's the Eurasian jay (American bluejays are listed on the MBTA and are illegal to work with in the US). I was wondering if anyone would choose this one. Jays are fantastic, spirited fellows. I'll note you down, and thank you.

Whew, sorry it took a few days to reply--had to finish posting all my zoo photos before devoting attention to anything else. I have a one-track mind. >;-)

Eurasian jay is fine, he is a bluejay by spiritual proxy. >;-)

Should I paypal you now? How much for shipping (I'm in Colorado)? Anything else you need to know about me before working on the piece?

*Cheek-rubs*

Hey no problem at all *g* And I kinda figured *wink*

Payment is due when I complete the piece, sometime in mid-July. I'm doing it this way because I still have some components for the projects on order. I'll let you know ahead of time when they're finished though. I'm kinda just going by the honor-system where that goes (that everyone will still be wanting their pieces when they are completed!).

Thanks again, so much. These are so much fun. *tailwag*

so payment is due towards the middle/end of July? if that is the case, sign me up for the last carrion crow slot, please!

[identity profile] primaldog.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep! That's the projected time I plan on getting them finished, and I'm not going to ask payment until I've got all of them completed, so I'm judging by mid-to end July.

Signing you up, and thank you *g* I really enjoy making these!

excellent! gives me plenty of time to save up some extra cash, and they're really, really neat! i was eying them for a while, and then re-read that today and i think it finally sunk in. *laughs*

thank you!

Hey, and thank you! It's real fun doing these. I'm thinking about trying to do something to personalize them a bit, such as some extra dangles in the back, or something. If you have anything in mind, like green beads or other decorations, I can most certainly try to swing it.
